Mental Health Week 2018

Mental Health Week this year was from May 7-13. Since 1951, CMHA Mental Health Week has been raising awareness to end stigma associated with mental illness. SSO is celebrating this year by encouraging you to TAKE ACTION.

With an election coming up in June, it is time to raise our voices to advocate for quality mental health care for individuals across the province.

Here’s how you can get involved during Mental Health Week:
  1. Sign our petition – Over 2500 people have signed our petition calling for access to timely treatments and supports for individuals living with severe mental illness.
  2. Read our election toolkit – use our toolkit for tips on how to engage your local candidates to ensure every Ontarian has access to quality health care.
  3. Read about our Queen’s Park visit here.
  4. Find out more about SSO’s advocacy work with our support of Bill 6 here.
The month will culminate in National Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day (NSPAD) on May 24. On this day, the CN Tower and the Toronto sign at Nathan Phillips Square will be lit up in green. Niagara Falls will also be lit green that evening at 10 p.m.

Let’s #getloud and #takeaction this month for mental health!
